Pei Chen Awarded 2020 Excellence in Interprofessional Teaching Award

Pei Chen, MD was selected to receive The UCSF Program for Interprofessional Practice and Education and the Haile T.Debas Academy of Medical Educators inaugural peer-nominated 2020 Excellence in Interprofessional Teaching Award. Dr. Chen was recognized for being a skilled and outstanding teacher and for her dedication in interprofessional teaching.

“Through her contributions to the Interprofessional (IP) Geriatric Learner clinic, other preceptors have observed and sought guidance to replicate her model in other clinics such as the UCSF Pulmonology Clinic.” 

“Multiple evaluations stated ‘this has been my favorite rotation and I wish I could stay longer’ and ‘I truly felt like I was a part of a team and my opinion mattered, even though I am a student’.” 

“In the interprofessional(IP) learning community Dr. Chen created, she models for the learners what interprofessional teamwork and team-based practice look like through artful and respectful communication with patients/families and interprofessional team members.” 

All teaching award recipients will be recognized at the UCSF Academy of Medical Educators Annual Celebration on Thursday, September 17, 2020 online from 3:00 – 5:00 pm. In addition to the teaching awards, during this ceremony, new members are inducted into the Academy and staff are recognized for their contributions to education.
