Welcome Jazmin Gomez (Admin Project Manager) and Itzel Carmona (Student Intern)!
Please join us in welcoming Jazmin Gomez (Admin Project Manager) and Itzel Carmona (Student Intern) to the Division of Geriatrics!
Jazmin (pronounced “haas-meen”) started this past Monday morning as our new Administrative Project Manager. She graduated from California State University – East Bay with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and is currently working towards her Master of Science degree in Health Care Administration. Prior to UCSF, Jazmin worked at Mercy Brown Bag serving as the Operations Specialist Manager. Most notably, she organized monthly deliveries of 12,000 meals to senior citizens across 92 sites in Alameda County, qualified applications for client financing, closed sales contracts, developed and implemented Standard Operation Policies and Procedures, recruited and trained employees, as well as participated in the disciplinary actions for employees where necessary. Simultaneously, Jazmin also served as the Recreation Leader for the City of Oakland Parks and Recreation where she oversaw day-to-day office operations, managed Central Reservations Unit scheduling and finance functions, as well as event planning. In 2019, she worked as an Intern for the Alameda County Social Services Adult and Aging Agency. For that role, she planned, administered, and controlled budgets to maintain financial records and produce reports and communicated in Spanish with community members and served as a liaison to Spanish-speaking community groups. In her new role on the core administrative team as Administrative Project Manager, Jazmin will be responsible for multiple projects serving the areas of our Division’s greatest needs at any given time. This will include leading and coordinating HR functions (such as hiring new staff) and serving as the grant manager/finance analyst for several Principal Investigators. Jazmin will also be providing backup support to Division staff to ensure smooth operations across teams. We are so very excited to have hired another staff onto the core admin team! Jazmin will be working at the Mission Bay Office on Thursdays (she sits right behind Caroline Sou Ziesmer). She can be reached at [email protected]. Please help welcome her to the team!
Itzel also started this past Monday morning as Student Intern for the Dementia Care Aware team! She will be with us through August 4th, 2023. Itzel is a second-year student at University of California, Berkeley studying economics. She has a passion for working with healthcare organizations and has experience working at the San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living and Dignity Health. Itzel hopes to gain insight into the operations of a healthcare program with a large scope and she will gain hands on professional experience working with a team to reach program goals and milestones. This role will allow Itzel to gain experience and knowledge that will help her better define her own professional goals as she enters the second half of her undergraduate career. She will work closely with the DCA team to build a DCA resource library, support program marketing efforts, as well as support administrative activities as needed such as scheduling, note taking, organizing materials, and shipping items. Itzel can be reached at [email protected]. Please join us in welcoming her to the team!
