Welcome Molly Silvestrini!
Molly is the Division of Geriatric's new NCIRE Staff Research Associate, who will be working with Drs. Mike Steinman, Rebecca Brown, and Vicky Tang on their research projects. Molly graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a BA in History and Sociology. Her research experience includes working as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at UCSB in support of the Women’s March and reproductive justice, where conducted literature searches and gained experience in qualitative and quantitative data analyses. In addition to her research work, Molly also served as a mentor to first-year College of Letters & Sciences students, helping them to cope with college life and giving them guidance on future courses and volunteer opportunities. Most recently, Molly worked at Planned Parenthood as a Community Engagement Intern, where she coordinated advocate and volunteer activities and engaged in community outreach. Some of these activities included leading lobby visits with elected officials and representing Planned Parenthood in the community at reproductive justice events. Throughout her full-time college career, Molly also held an array of positions that helped her hone her customer service and leadership skills. Some of these positions include working as a Student Copy Operator and Administrative Assistant at Associated Students Publications, Sierra Club Conservation Intern, as well as Client Service Coordinator at the Women’s Community Clinic. Last but not least, Molly also published her Sociology Honors Practicum Thesis and received a Marvin Appel Scholarship in 2018 (just to name one).
We are very excited to have Molly join our team of dedicated and highly-competent Research Coordinators/Associates. Molly will be stationed at the VA (where Edison Xu use to sit, same office as Sarah Ngo-VA Bldg 1, Rm 218B). Molly can be reached via email at [email protected] or by phone at 415-221-4810 ext. 24240. Her first day was today! If you get a chance to meet her, please make her feel welcome to the team!
