As part of the city's coordinated response to COVID, several faculty continue to be deployed and have assumed new roles. For three months, Anna Chodos, MD will be serving as the medical expert and lead for nursing home outbreaks in the Outbreak Management Group.  Louise Aronson, MD is now the medical expert and lead for the Senior Sites Team in the Community Mitigation Group.

Brie Williams, MD, MS is quoted in the Journal Nature article "California's San Quentin prison declined free coronavirus tests and urgent advice — now it has a massive outbreak". “We have pushed for a scientific response from the very beginning,” says Brie Williams, the director of Amend, a group at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), that consults on health care at California’s prisons.

Dr. David Sears, Assistant Clinical Professor at UCSF and Director of Healthcare Quality at Amend, was a panelist at the California Senate Public Safety Committee Hearing on July 1.  Dr. Sears presented on Amend’s Covid in California Prisons Program with a focus on the outbreak at San Quentin Prison.  A recording of Dr. Sears’ portion of the hearing can be viewed here.

Brie Williams, MD, MS and David Sears, MD presented at the June 30^th UCSF Health Recovery Town Hall. The discussions focused on COVID-19, including the rise in cases in the Bay Area and the outbreak at San Quentin Prison.  The recording of the virtual Town Hall can be found here.

Louise Aronson, MD, MFA was a featured guest on At Home, on Air episode, "'Designing' elderhood, now and for the future" on Thursday, June 25, 2020.

Louise Aronson, MD, MFA was quoted in a New York Times article about Older Adults May Be Left Out of Some COVID-19 Trials even though they are disproportionately impacted by the virus and the public health response to it.

Brie Williams, MD, MS was interviewed by Andrea Nakano of KPIX 5 CBS SF Bay Area for the segment “Doctors Warn Coronavirus Outbreak At San Quentin Could Be Catastrophic” saying “there is nothing special about the walls of a prison or the bars of a cell that are going to keep this virus from escaping prison.”
